Our Story
Founded in 1981 by four women, Small World Preschool was initially created as a place for 3 and 4 year-old children of local families with distinct ties to the lifestyle and employment within the small community of Waimea. Since then, we have grown to serve multiple communities on the Big Island and have built a reputable and highly sought-after educational program.

Small World Preschool is a private, non-profit organization offering a full and part-time program of Preschool through Junior Kindergarten for children ages 2-6 years old in a stimulating atmosphere of love and encouragement. We proudly provide equal and equitable education for all children regardless of race, religion, gender, disability, family background, economic background, or national origin. We are licensed to operate by the State of Hawaiʻi and inspected accordingly. We are also covered by insurance as prescribed by law; policy information is available upon request.
Mission Statement
Since our inception, our mission has always been to provide a preschool program that is developmentally based and age-appropriate, ensuring the preparation of each child on their journey through school. It is our goal to bring the very best of an early childhood learning experience to our students by creating a safe and exceptional learning environment from a qualified, loving, and experienced staff.
